Start here: what this board is for

This board is for people coming to Korea on a working holiday, and for people already in the middle of one. Working holiday runs on bilateral agreements, which means almost everything about it — who can apply, for how long, what work is allowed, how many places exist each year — is set between Korea and your country specifically. Two people on the same visa type can be under genuinely different rules. So when you ask something here, say which country you are applying from. Without it, half the answers you get will not apply to you. Your own country's Korean embassy or consulate is the authority on your side of the agreement, and it is where applications are handled. HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr) covers what happens once you are in Korea. What tends to be most useful here: The arrival sequence — what to do in which order once you land, and what has to wait for the ARC. Work that actually fits a working holiday year, including seasonal and short-term jobs, and what the limits are. Living cheaply for under a year, when a normal lease does not fit your timeline. Trip reports from people finishing their year. These are worth more than any guide, and if you are near the end of yours, please consider writing one.
